Eat a bowl of strawberries once a week can reduce the risk of high blood pressure which is the main factor for heart disease and stroke. The findings were published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

A total of 3 phases of research studies conducted in the Nurses 'Health Study I, which studied 87,242 women, Nurses' Health Study II, which examined 46,672 women and the Health Professionals Follow Up Study of 23,043 male sample. After observation for 14 years, 29,018 women and 5629 men suffered from hypertension.

Men and women who consume anthocyanins from strawberry, the risk of hypertension decreased to 8% compared with a never eat strawberries.

Anthocyanins are antioxidants that are very strong and gives the skin color of strawberries. This substance helps dilate blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and reduce the risk of high blood pressure or hypertension.
